LAUND-O-MAT AT THE END OF THE WORLD ...

"It's the end of the world, time to do your laundry"

It’s certainly not your average night - at least not for Brian. He’s trying to get in one last load of laundry before … before… Oh, but that’s just crazy. Right?  For Carmella it is precisely just another night… it’s Friday night -laundry night.  All is as it should be.  Or is it?  Over soap and sarcasm, two strangers grapple over the relevance of love and family, God and miracles, coincidence and fate, spelling … and …. But that’s just crazy…

Written by Peter Gruner

Laund-O-Mat at the End of the World is Peter Gruner’s first play. It was put to paper during a playwriting workshop class at the Pearl Company in Hamilton and was subsequently premiered there in 2007. His second play, Cast Party, was part of Black Box Fire’s
Emerging Artist Series and premiered in July 2009 at Hamilton Theatre Inc's Studio space. Peter is grateful to Quarter to Nine Productions for choosing to remount this show as part of their inaugural production and hopes to work with them on many more productions in the future.

David Mamet's OLEANNA at the Staircase Theatre

Quarter to Nine Productions is proud to present it's first major production in the intimate theatre venue of The Staircase Theatre

Written in the heyday of political correctness and the culture wars of the early 90’s, OLEANNA is Pulitzer Prize winner  DAVID MAMET's most controversial drama.  Regarded today as one of the most provocative dramas of our time, this gripping play, directed by Quarter to Nine's Shari Vandermolen, and starring Hamilton's Jennifer Graham and theatre stalwart Al French, has electrifying dialogue, blazing emotion and an ending that will leave you talking.  In this riveting drama, a college professor and his female student become embroiled in a war of words that takes a dangerous turn. As their serene campus transforms into a battleground for justice, Mamet's explosive masterpiece dares you to take a side . . . if you can

.
Since its debut in May 1992, David Mamet's Oleanna, has been the object of more widespread public rage, debate, celebration, and reproval than even the most extreme of the performance pieces he condemns.  Oleanna has been widely acclaimed for its treatment of issues in American society of the 1990s, such as gender problems and relationships, sexual harassment, political correctness, and the manipulation of power.

MINCED by Peter Gruner - Hamilton's "Best of Fringe" winner 2011

Quarter to Nine Productions is proud to present the world premiere of Peter Gruner’s new play. Directed by Al French and starring Jo Skilton and Shari Vandermolen

Minced is a one act comic-drama and was awarded as one of the top three plays in the 2011 Hamilton Fringe Playwriting Contest. It combines laughter and tears to deliver a wonderful theatrical experience as it explores the strained relationship between a mother and her middle-aged daughter.

Hamilton theatre veteran Jo Skilton plays “Cait”, a cantankerous woman who wants to pass on the secret family recipe for her minced-meat pies before she dies.  Quarter to Nine’s Shari Vandermolen is “Fiona”, her guilt-ridden daughter, who wants to mend her relationship with her mother.   Throw in some past hurts, and an uncertain future.  Then sprinkle in some tears and laughter for good measure and you get the makings for Minced.    If only these two could keep their focus on the ingredients instead of on each other’s shortcomings they might actually finish making the pies.
